Join us for the Open Alpha

If you've heard about OrbusVR and haven't had a chance to play the game, now's your chance! We'll be hosting an Open Alpha test beginning on July 28th, 2017 at 12 PM (Noon) US Central Time (Countdown Clock) and lasting for approximately 60 hours.

Is it free?

Yes! The Open Alpha is free to anyone who wants to play the game. All you have to do is create a free account on our main website. Then you're in!

If you like what you see, you can pre-order the full game for $30 and join us when it launches this year; or, buy Founder access for $50 to join us for the Closed Beta as well. You can read more info about this on our Buying the Game post.

What can I do during the Open Alpha?

The Open Alpha has more than 20 hours of content for you to enjoy, including:

  • 4 different combat classes that can be leveled to Level 12
  • 2 five-player PvE dungeons
  • A PvP free-for-all arena
  • 3 zones packed with content including monsters, quests, and more.
  • Fishing and Alchemy disciplines
  • Pet dragons, a world boss, an airship to ride, and more!

You can read more about all there is to do on our First Time Player's Guide.

What do I need to download?

We'll release the download link as we approach the testing date, but you'll have to download the game itself which is around 2 GB in size.

What are the requirements to play the game?

Basically, the same requirements to play any VR game on your headset. You must have an Oculus Rift + Touch, or an HTC Vive. Note that if you are using a Rift, we support 180-degree (front-facing) setups, but the game is really designed for 360-degree (room-scale) setups, so keep that in mind.

How do I stay informed?

If you want to stay informed on the test and get a reminder as the time approaches, just be sure you're signed up for our newsletter, which can you do at the bottom of our main site, under the "Follow Development" link.

If you have any questions about the Alpha feel free to drop by our friendly community forums and ask them: https://community.orbusvr.com/t/join-us-for-the-orbusvr-open-alpha/1877
