New Team Members, Party Voice Chat, and a Wiki!
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to post a quick update to let you know that we're still hard at work on the game. We're still on track for our first Closed Alpha test on April 20th.
If you missed the Kickstarter campaign and you want to join us for the Closed Alpha tests, you can now visit your Account page on the main site and purchase an upgrade. The prices are currently the same as they were during the Kickstarter campaign (sans early bird discounts of course).
We've Grown!
We've been putting that additional Kickstarter money to good use, and I'm pleased to announce that our small team has grown by two!
Nick Jones has come on board as our Narrative Designer, and he's busy expanding the lore of the world and writing up some awesome quests for you all to go on. We've been hashing out some really cool ideas for a living storyline that will actually change the game world in significant ways as the game progresses; can't wait to write about that in a future blog post.
Aaron Lenk has also joined us as an additional member of our art team. He's currently focusing on creating a few hundred 2D icons to go with the great work that Elijah has done on the gear. No more Musketeer weapons that look like crossbows in the inventory screen! Yay!
Party Voice Chat
One of the new things that's in the game for the new test is Party Voice chat. Using it is simple: just pick up your Player Compass, and hold it in front of your mouth. It lights up to let you know it's activated. At that point, whatever you say will be broadcast across any distance (and even across zones) to the other members of your Party. Great for letting them know where you are in the world or coordinating an attack.
Of course once you're within sight of them again you'll probably just want to use the regular proximity voice chat, since the Party Chat does distort your voice a little...
Community Wiki
Thanks to the efforts of some of your fellow community members, I'm pleased to announce that we now have a Community Wiki. This will be a central repository for all the information on the game, including the mechanics of the game (like how to use your Runemage wand) and general help like technical support, account creation and upgrades, etc.
We are still working on laying out the ground rules for it, but generally speaking we want to avoid spoiling the game for others, and it should also only contain information about the game that's official (not just speculation).
It's a community effort so feel free to check it out and get involved in contributing if you'd like.
That's all from us for now, we'll see you very soon in-game!
